About us Camyoga (originally Ashtanga Yoga Cambridge ) was set up in 2003 by Louise Palmer. In the last four years Camyoga has grown considerably and diversified into a broad range of yoga activities including ashtanga yoga, hatha yoga, yoga for women, meditation, vinyasa flow, holidays, retreats and more recently pilates. We have also just launched a certified yoga teacher training course. The pre and postnatal, active birth and baby yoga side of Camyoga has also grown considerably, and has now become a sister organisation in its own right - cambridgeactivebirth.co.uk About the teachers: Louise Palmer Louise has been a yoga student since the age of 11 (about 30 years) and has many yoga styles under her belt to draw on. Her teaching encompasses her wealth of experience in yoga - theory, philosophy, and practice. Her experience is borne out of many hours and years on the mat, and her no frills approach has won her many friends and students in Cambridge and beyond. ''I try and practice asana, pranayama and meditation daily, I feel that therein lies the secret of yoga' Louise is also a pre and postnatal, baby and children's yoga teacher, and a trained doula. Howard Daly Originally from a fitness background, Howard is a vastly experienced teacher who's teaching and personal practice was transformed by ashtanga yoga. He is a sensitive teacher with a deep knowledge of anatomy and alignment, which he applies to his teaching. Howard is a very popular pilates teacher, and his knowledge and practice of pilates is a valuable tool that influences his teaching and his understanding of the core aspects of ashtanga yoga. Abby Hoffmann Abby has a background in dance and Astanga Vinyasa yoga, gaining a BA Hons from Middlesex University in Dance Studies in 1995. She started yoga practices over 20 years ago as a student dancer and has studied with some of the world's most respected teachers from many lineages including SK PAttabhi Jois and one of his most senior Western teachers, John Scott. Abby's passion is for bringing the traditional teachings to life, and making them relevant for the Western mind. Abby runs The Yoga Room in Norwich, a dedicated yoga studio, and is nearing the end of her doctorate at Middlesex University which investigates the integration of yoga into dancer's training. Abby teaches regularly in Cambridge for Camyoga, and is one of the region's most popular teachers. Amy Holly Amy is one of the region's leading dance teachers and choreographers. Amy graduated from london contemporary dance school, and has been teaching dance to children and young people for more than 10 years. She is artist in residence at impington village college, and director of Cambridgeshire youth dance company based at the junction in Cambridge. Jen Black Jen took an Iyengar class in the early 90's and loved it. Since then her journey with yoga has been varied as she has dipped into different forms of yoga and meditation. This has included taking Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha, Triyoga and Vinyasa Flow classes. Lately, self practice has been her focus as she was fortunate enough to return to Mysore last spring. She ran into Ajay Kumar of the BNS Iyengar school of Astanga and practiced adjustments for the primary series in his teacher training. Her aim is to help practitioners achieve the next level, whether it entails learning a new pose, a deeper one, or better breathing and a ashtanga stronger practice.
