Retreats £525 per person We are delighted to be going to Huzur Vadisi for the first time in 2009. Huzur Vadisi is known as one of THE top retreat venues in the world. "Huzur Vadisi is one of those rare jewels that you want to keep secret but don't because you'd feel too selfish. Idyllic, nestled in the most beautiful scenery, the hospitality is unequalled and the food worth the trip in itself. If you want peace and quiet, real nature, real food and real people, Huzur Vadisi is for you." Huzur Vadisi has been running since 1993 as a venue for inspiring, relaxing holidays in the stunning surroundings of the pine forested mountains of Turkey's 'Turquoise' coast. Meaning 'peaceful valley' in Turkish, Huzur Vadisi is built around a traditional restored farmstead. Accommodation is in large, comfortable, nomadic yurts, a special feature of the holiday. Some rooms are also available. Huzur Vadisi's combination of stunning unspoilt location, welcoming and experienced staff, and 'legendary' food, ensures a memorable experience for which guests return year after year. Huzur Vadisi is a place where the only sounds are the cicadas, the call of owls at night and in springtime the song of the heavenly nightingales. You can walk unhindered in any direction to spectacular view points of the coast and islands and inland to unfolding mountain ranges. The original farmhouse is the inspiration for the careful restoration and building at Huzur Vadisi. Two special features are the beautiful natural stone swimming pool, and the traditional wooden Kösk (where the word kiosk comes from meaning summer house or pavillion), which is not unlike an exotic treehouse and is a favourite spot for siestas! The house provides a sitting room with open log fire for cooler evenings at the beginning and end of the year. Huzur Vadisi is in the region of southwest Turkey known as Lycia. Mountainous and forested with a beautiful coastline of deep bays and islands the scenery is quite stunning, with limestone cliffs and panoramic views of sometimes snowcapped mountains rising from the turquoise sea. The climate is typically Mediterranean with hot, sunny, dry summer months, and lovely spring and autumn weather, with September one of the nicest months. There is lots to do in the loocal area, including boat trips and trips to an historic local area. Please visit www.huzurvadisi.com for more pictures and info. Living accomodation in spacious traditional turkish yurts is something rather special. The yurt (which is the Turkish word for home) is a circular domed "tent", made on a wooden trellis frame. There are also some rooms available. In hot weather the apex of the roof is left open to the sky, the so called "Eye of Heaven" - at night you can see the stars from your bed. Equipped with "proper" beds, electricity, wooden floors and home comforts, the yurts are definitely not camping! White cotton mosquito nets ensure you can sleep in blissful peace free from the usual Mediterranean wildlife.
The
feeling at Huzur Vadisi is very much of being
a houseguest - it's a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Guests tend
to share similar interests and values, which creates a friendly, supportive
and lively atmosphere which is particularly welcoming for people holidaying
on their own. There is also plenty of space to be by yourself and be quiet
if you wish. Turkish cuisine is recognized as one of the great cuisines
of the world and this is reflected in our delicious, vegetarian food based
on fresh local produce - fruit, vegetables, pulses, nuts, cheeses and
yoghurt.
