Overview

The CAMYOGA Teaching Restorative Yoga qualification is open to qualified yoga teachers. The restorative yoga training course provides a comprehensive training in Restorative Yoga in group and one-to-one situations. The course consists of four training days. There are written and practical teaching assignments.

The course takes place over a 4 day intensive where you will be part of a small group with a maximum of 14 students.

All the CAMYOGA faculty is formally qualified and experienced in delivering OfQual (government endorsed) qualifications. Our systems are internally verified by qualified verifiers and all coursework is marked and assessed by level 3 qualified assessors. Quality assurance and standardisation procedures are in place to ensure a very high standard of qualification is achieved by all of our students.

Course content

Unit 1 - Principles of Practice
Origin, context and purpose of restorative yoga
Essential poses, transitions and use of props
Breath, somatic experience and internal focus

Unit 2 - Anatomy and Physiology
Anatomy and physiology of poses
Effects on the nervous system and the organs
Physiology of relaxation, how to elicit the relaxation response
Subtle anatomy, the energy body and layers of consciousness

Unit 3 Teaching Skills
Environmental conditions for restorative yoga
Working with common health conditions and emotional states
Observation, modifications and variations, contraindications
Intention, sequencing, pose duration and lesson/workshop planning
How to introduce restorative yoga to students, group and 1:1 teaching
Non-violent communication, guidance, visualisation, art of touch, silence
Integration of yoga philosophy and contemporary wisdom teachings
Ethics, teacher self-care and practice

Am I Suitable?

Successful applicants will have an existing 200 hour equivalent yoga teaching qualification. Qualifications deemed suitable are at the discretion of the CAMYOGA teacher training board. You may be asked for your qualification certificate.

Course Certification

Upon full attendance of all 4 training days and passing practical and written assignments, successful graduates will receive:

  • The CAMYOGA Award in Teaching Restorative Yoga

Pre & Post-course Study

There is approximately 5 hours pre course study for the conversion course. There is a practical assessment.

Course Location

All course dates are run at the Camyoga dedicated studios at CAMYOGA Shelford.

All tutoring, assessments, and course materials.
Teacher training students are eligible for concession rates at CAMYOGA during their training, but are under no obligation to attend CAMYOGA classes.

What's Not Included?

Accommodation, books from the reading list. Lunch.
