teaching restorative yoga
The CAMYOGA Teaching Restorative Yoga qualification is open to qualified yoga teachers. The restorative yoga training course provides a comprehensive training in Restorative Yoga in group and one-to-one situations. The course consists of four training days. There are written and practical teaching assignments.
The course takes place over a 4 day intensive where you will be part of a small group with a maximum of 14 students.
All the CAMYOGA faculty is formally qualified and experienced in delivering OfQual (government endorsed) qualifications. Our systems are internally verified by qualified verifiers and all coursework is marked and assessed by level 3 qualified assessors. Quality assurance and standardisation procedures are in place to ensure a very high standard of qualification is achieved by all of our students.

Unit 1 Principles of Practice
Origin, context, purpose and benefits of restorative yoga
Essential poses, alignment, energetics, transitions and use of props
Breath, sensory, somatic and affective integration, sound and silence
Unit 2 Anatomy and Physiology
Anatomy and physiology of poses
Nervous system regulation, relationship with other body systems, organ health
Physiology of stress and relaxation, vagal tone, how to elicit the relaxation response
Subtle anatomy, navigating the koshas and layers of consciousness
Unit 3 Teaching Skills
Environmental conditions for restorative yoga
Working beneficially with specific health conditions, mental and emotional wellbeing
Observation, adaptations and contraindications
Intent, settling, sequencing, lesson/workshop planning
Integration of themes, yoga philosophy and contemporary wisdom teachings
How to introduce restorative yoga to your community; group and 1:1 teaching
Ethics, holding space, teacher self-care and cultivation
The 4-day restorative yoga training is in two parts:

Am I Suitable?
Successful applicants will have an existing 200 hour equivalent yoga teaching qualification. Qualifications deemed suitable are at the discretion of the CAMYOGA teacher training board. You may be asked for your qualification certificate.

The CAMYOGA Award in Teaching Restorative Yoga
This course is eligible for CEUs with Yoga Alliance (US) and CPD points with BWY. Please check the requirements of other awarding bodies that are relevant to you. There are 30 contact hours and 15 non-contact hours.
Pre & Post-course Study
There is approximately 5 hours pre course study for the conversion course. There is a practical assessment.
All course dates are run at the Camyoga dedicated studios at CAMYOGA Shelford.
All tutoring, assessments, course manual and presentations and unlimited tea on training days.
Teacher Training students are eligible for concession rates at CAMYOGA during their training, but are under no obligation to attend CAMYOGA classes.
