I'm new to yoga/never done yoga before, what would you recommend?
If you've never done yoga before (or practiced a little bit of yoga but are unsure), we would recommend joining a beginners class or course - see upcoming courses and classes here. If none of the beginner class times suit you, try a yoga open or yoga flow open class. Another option is to email us to discuss your needs - we LOVE to give recommendations.
Changing rooms/facilities
We have separate male & female changing rooms, with free lockers that you can use for valuables. We also have showers you can use after class.
Should I eat before class?
It is best not to eat a big meal within 4 hours of a class.
A healthy snack (such as a piece of fruit, or a handful of nuts) 1-2 hours before is fine. We also have complimentary healthy homemade snacks you can have before and after class.
Do I need to bring water?
We provide plain and fruit-infused water which you can help yourself to, with small plastic cups to sip from. We also have Dash sparkling water for sale. Please do not bring glass or mugs into the class space.
Do I need to bring a mat?
We have mats and props for you to borrow at the studio, so no need to bring your own unless you’d like to. For hot and warm classes, you will need that you bring a towel around the size of a yoga mat to place over your mat (as it gets sweaty pretty quickly) we have a selection of grip dot towels for you to purchase at the studio, you can also rent a towel for £1 - just ask at reception when you arrive.
How often should I practice?
There is a significant benefit to attending class 2-3 times a week. Expect to see dramatic mind and body benefits from this level of attendance. Almost all of our clients are seeking some kind of change. Attending 2-3 times a week regularly will bring about that change - guaranteed.
How far in advance should I arrive?
Classes are often busy. It’s good to arrive early to relax and prepare before class.
What if I’m late?
We operate a zero-tolerance lateness policy. Classes start on time and late admissions are not allowed - this is to minimise disruption for your fellow practitioners. If you’re on your way and you know you’ll be late (we know it happens sometimes) - give us a ring or email us to let us know and we can advise.
What should I wear?
Most people wear Shorts, or leggings with a t-shirt or vest. Bring a sweatshirt or jumper as well in case you get chilly during relaxation. In most classes, there is no particular dress code, but you’ll see most people in Iyengar classes wearing shorts!
Can I wear socks?
In our classes, you will need to remove your socks. Not only is this for your own safety (socks + yoga mat = slippery), it is the traditional way to practice. If you feel uncomfortable removing your socks, you will need to get some grippy socks (such as these) which ensures you won’t slip arond on the mat.
Be prepared to remove your shoes upon arrival!
Please remove your shoes on arrival at our centre - you can leave them in the hall. This ensures our flooring stays nice and clean.
Book classes on the CAMYOGA app
We have a fantastic free app that can be used on Android or Apple devices. You can book classes on the go, sign in when you get to the studio, make purchases and more. Available for Android and iOS.
Turn off your phone!
Please turn off your phone and store it in a locker before your class - it is distracting (and embarrassing) if it starts going off during your lesson. You’ve made the effort to attend class, use this time to shut off from the outside world. If you are expecting a phone call, please let our reception team know - they can come and get you if your phone rings.
I’m pregnant, can I attend classes?
It is very important to inform your instructor at the start of your class if you are pregnant. For clarity on what classes to attend, please email us - not all classes are suitable for pregnancy. At the moment, we are not offering pregnancy-specific yoga classes.
Can I get the recording of the class if I attend in-studio?
Yes, of course, you can! Just ask at reception when you attend the class (or drop us an email), we will give you access to the recording free of charge :)
