GOOD Yoga FAQs
What is GOOD Yoga?
GOOD Yoga is a weekly, all-levels yoga class at CAMYOGA built around a simple idea.
Yoga can be a force for good.
The classes are taught by newly qualified teachers from Barefoot Body Training, a Cambridge-based teacher training school known for its emphasis on accessibility, inclusivity and thoughtful, student-centred teaching.
Each class supports two things at once:
Making yoga more accessible to people who may not be able to afford regular classes or memberships
Raising funds for Centre 33, who provide vital mental health services for young people across Cambridgeshire
One hundred percent of donations go directly to Centre 33.
Is GOOD Yoga only about fundraising?
Fundraising is part of it, but it is not the whole story.
GOOD Yoga is also about:
Removing financial barriers to yoga
Offering a welcoming space where cost is not a deciding factor
Supporting newly qualified teachers to gain experience in a real, community-focused setting
If you are able to donate, you are helping support both the charity and wider access to yoga.
If you are not, you are still very welcome.
Do I need to be good at yoga?
Not at all. GOOD Yoga is designed to be accessible, welcoming and non-intimidating. You are welcome whether you are completely new to yoga, returning after a break, or have been practising for years.
Teachers offer options and encourage you to move at your own pace.
Is it different from a normal class?
In terms of teaching quality and care, no.
In terms of intention, yes.
The classes tend to be gentler, more mindful and more supportive, with an emphasis on wellbeing rather than performance. All teachers are supported by the values and training of Barefoot Body Training, and by the wider CAMYOGA community.
How does the donation work?
We suggest a donation of £5 to £10, but you are welcome to give more, less, or nothing at all, whatever feels right for you.
There is no judgement, no pressure, and no awkward conversations.
All donations go straight to Centre 33 via JustGiving.
Do I need to be a CAMYOGA member?
No. Everyone is welcome.
You do not need a membership, and you do not need to have practised at CAMYOGA before.
Will it be awkward if only a few people come?
Not at all. Smaller classes often feel quieter, more spacious and more personal. The teachers are there to support whoever shows up, whether that is three people or twenty.
Why Centre 33?
Centre 33 provides counselling, groups and mental health support for young people when they need it most. By coming to GOOD Yoga, you are helping create access to care locally, right here in our community.
Studio FAQ
Changing rooms/facilities
We have two separate changing rooms (not unisex), with lockers that you can leave your bits and bobs in. We have unisex toilet facilities and now have showers available for you to use (bring your toiletries - we can provide towels).
Should I eat before class?
It is best not to eat a big meal within 4 hours of a class.
A healthy snack (such as a piece of fruit, or a handful of nuts) 1-2 hours before is fine.
Bring a water bottle
We provide filtered water and fruit-infused water which you can help yourself to along with small plastic cups to sip from. Please do not bring glasses or mugs into our studios.
We supply all mats and props
We have mats and props for you to borrow at the studio, so no need to bring your own unless you’d like to. For Hot Yoga classes, we recommend that you bring a towel around the size of a yoga mat to place over your mat (as it gets sweaty pretty quickly!) we have a selection of Yogitoes grip dot towels for you to purchase at the studio, or you can rent one of ours for £1.
How often should I practice?
There is a significant benefit to attending class 2-3 times a week. Expect to see dramatic mind and body benefits from this level of attendance. Almost all of our clients are seeking some kind of change. Attending 2-3 times a week regularly will bring about that change - guaranteed.
Arrive 10 minutes early
Classes are often busy. It’s good to arrive early to relax and prepare before class.
Don’t be late!
We operate a zero-tolerance lateness policy. Classes start on time and late admissions are not allowed - this is to minimise disruption for your fellow practitioners. Please do not ask to be let into a class after it has started. Thank you for your cooperation.
Wear comfortable clothing and a couple of layers
Most people wear gym-style clothing. Shorts, or leggings / joggers and a t-shirt or vest would be great. Bring a sweatshirt or jumper as well in case you get chilly during relaxation.
Be prepared to remove your shoes upon arrival!
You will be asked to remove your shoes on arrival at the centres. Please leave them in the hall.
Book classes on the CAMYOGA app
We have a fantastic free app that can be used on Android or Apple devices. You can book classes on the go, sign in when you get to the studio, make purchases and more. Available for Android and iOS.
